March Madness

We were without a car all last week and It'll be out of the shop today at 3... which will be amazing to have again haha.. kentville doesn't have enough people to be walking everywhere. We took the bikes out for as long as we could.. and then it snowed haha. But its all melted again and its pretty close to 0 degrees so its staying warm-ish. I don't know if I mentioned this last week, but the climbing gear is broken on both of the bikes, so going up hills was rough hahaha.. it really made me feel out of shape.. But it worked out because we are still alive and not sore.

Tuesday we had Elder Steimle and Elder O'Brian over for exchanges. It was a pretty sweet day because we were able to get tons of referrals and we had two Dinner appointments set up. We have been teaching the members a lot about the Book of Mormon and then committing them to hand one out and its been really cool. As we teach and testify every time you can't help but to feel the spirit flood into the room and by the end of the lesson each member had a special someone in mind that they could give a BoM to.

We also taught CJ last week, he is someone who was taught here a few months back and fell off the table for a while.. He is 18 and his family is from Barbados! We had a couple lessons with him last week and in all honesty they have been some of the most spiritual lessons I've had on my mission! The first was teaching about Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His gospel and the second was on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the priesthood... During both lessons I felt the spirit testifying so strong and he is talking to his family about baptism now. The member we had with us did an awesome job of testifying as well and actually invited him to church to watch us all sing in the choir ('Im part of the choir but I don't sing loud enough for anyone to hear me or Id be kicked out hahaha) He came to church Sunday as well:)

We had a lot of really cool experiences last week excluding the ones I have already mentioned.. Like:
1) Elder Thompson fell off his bike
2) knocked on a door and was let in to a family of witches. weird situation...
3) Got referred to a lost member by a random guy who didn't know that the person was a member
4) Was told I looked like spiderman a few more times
5) Got invited to dinner with a non member during service.. we are going to eat at his house tonight:)

Throughout this month we have also been studying a lot of talks and chapters about Jesus Christ. We have made it a point to testify of him and there were a few times that stand out right now... One of them was when we were walking around late at night trying to get to appointments (1st world missionary probs when your car is broken) and this lady that we street contacted said that she was atheist and not interested.. we didn't push it any further but when we asked who she knew that we could talk to about Christ, she asked us, "do you really believe in all that?" and I was surprised at how the conversation changed... I answered her saying, "Yes, I really do." In a nice way.. not a sarcastic or mean way and then she started asking questions about why and how and it turned into a really great contact..

I love you all and thanks for your emails:) I can say to you that I love my mission, I love Jesus Christ and I know he is our savior and I know that this is his work:)

enjoy the pics...

oh yeah I also found the Campbell of Argyll tartan...

Our car is a Wreck!

Fun news for everyone... thanks to an elder who crashed our car the week before I arrived... we are car-less for the next week or so. Saleen (our suby) is in the shop, which means she won't be dying while we drive anymore:) We are going to be riding bikes, which will be really cold and pretty fun as long as we can stay clear of the ole ice patches haha!

We had some pretty cool experiences, one of which while on exchanges.. Elder Beckman (Arizona) was with me and we were in downtown Wolfville street contacting/meandering through neighborhoods and we ran into a less active member from Vegas who is also one of the football coaches for the college here... pretty nuts. And immediately after we ran into this girl and then walked with her to subway sat down and taught her the restoration! It was an awesome lesson and she was asking all the good questions like, "What is the first step after" "How can I know if there is a prophet" and so on.. We then spent the rest of the night walking and knocking in the rain, but it was a toasty 16 degrees outside so it wasn't bad at all.

Also spent last Tuesday up in Halifax, and that city is huge! We went street contacting near Dalhousie university and there were more people on one road than I've seen in my mission.

Last Friday and Saturday was the French temple trip, so I got to see all the French posterity.. The elders in Dieppe brought me a letter written by an investigator in Dieppe. It was a guy that I had taught while I was there. His letter was really cool, it was him bearing his testimony to me for a full page and thanking me for all the stuff I taught him about a year ago! It was really nice to get because for me Dieppe felt like a time of more personal growth than helping others but this letter was a fruit of work done in the past! Goes to show you never know:)

Dad, you'll like this story... We went to visit a less active member yesterday and he races cars. In his basement he has a literal half million dollar collection of hot wheels and in his garage he builds motors and drag cars. He has 3 cars that do 1/4 mile in under 9 seconds that are all street legal hahaha.. the man is nuts! He has an older corvette that he got by trading three of his hot wheels and the name of the corvette is #12.. its one of the rarest models ever built. Its awesome. If we ever go back I'll give you a pic or 6. Oh and he has 7 Barracudas.. There you go dad, don't drool

I've been studying a lot about the Fall, the atonement, and our earthly life. How grateful I am that we have a chance to be here, to learn and grow through our experiences and then to rely on Jesus Christ to return better than before.

Take care, polar bear
