Beautiful Day

Salut ma famille et mes amis

This week, like most weeks, was a good week. Unfortunately we lost contact with some investigators a couple days ago which is not good, but we are planning on stopping by their house today to see whats going on:) We have spent the past week doing a lot of finding. We had a couple of really really weird contacts ranging from happy people saying really mean things in a happy voice (confusing) to angry people and people who were more interested in the two guys at their door. It was great and we met a few great potentials that we are hopefully teaching this week:)

Yesterday we had a record low attendance at church yesterday, 47. It was a beautiful day of 1 degree (Celsius) and there was no excuse why people couldn't come to church. It was really great because the members finally saw that things are not going so great here and everyone needed to step it up. Testimonies were born, plans were made and we are happy that the ward wants to get involved! It'll be great to see the growth that will come in these next few months, both with members and missionary work.

Our two investigators have been running into a lot of anti- mormons. This is what Lehi talks about in his vision of the tree of life, people leaving the tree or the rod of iron because of the remarks of people in the great and spacious building. It has been difficult resolving their concerns because the world looks on religion, or spiritual things, and tries to destroy them. Satan, from the beginning has taken great things, things from God or symbolic of His Son, and changed meanings to find a weakness and slowly drag each victim into unbelief and eternal misery. My advise to all of you is hold to the iron rod, the scriptures and the words of the prophets.

2 Timothy 3:14-15

"But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;"
"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

The next two versus are powerful as well. Continue to read, and if you don't you better start or your foundation will not be strong enough for when the time comes that you must prove your faith.

p.s. church came out with a video for easter, go watch it, its grrrreat.

An Episode from THE DISTRICT

This week on the district (missionary joke) was great. The best week of my mission so far. We had an awesome Leadership training with the mission president last week in Truro which put the whole mission on track to work their butts off and its working magic. Our investigators we started teaching a week and a half ago (I mentioned them in last weeks email) are progressing like crazy. Matthew,(26) stopped smoking Electric cigarettes a few days ago, he has born his testimony at least four times to us and to his friends/family. Yesterday we had a lesson with them where he invited one of his brothers to come over with his family, we started teaching them and today we will be teaching both matthew and his brothers family at the same time. But that's not all. He called his other brother during the lesson and said "just talk to him" and I spoke with his other brother on the phone. SO a possibility of three investigator families all together to hear one lesson tonight at 6:30!!! Its going to be great:)

Matthew testified yesterday about prayer to his sister in law, she asked how to know if its true and he said, "Ashley, you just pray and ask, you only have to do it once." It was awesome. Another lesson earlier this week we had at the church and he told us how different he feels while he is here. Later that same lesson he told us he knows the Book of Mormon is true! BUT THATS NOT ALL! A lesson a few days before that he really surprised us.. just out of the blue he said, "That Joseph Smith guy, he is an idiot. He let himself die for the church. There is no way that guy isn't in the celestial kingdom! Gosh he is so great!" And he just went off for 5 minutes (exaggerated). It was awesome. The first part of the Joseph Smith one surprised us a bit.. but after man oh man. He also accepted the invitation to be baptized. But we have to get him married first:) which isn't a problem he has been with her (Megan) for 7 years and they have 3 kids. They want to get married as well, just a matter of planning:)

This week we are teaching an English class, and a Spanish class as well at the library in Dieppe (because my comp speaks spanish) Needless to say, what a week:') Love you all like crazy, S/O to Elder Cook for giving me a shoutout in his email, sorry I wasn't there for you maybe next time <3

Heleman 5 -- read the whole chapter. ITS grrrrrrRREAT

Extraordinary Week & Yup More Snow

Guess who I am training now.. He claims to be from "Paris" but he lives in Spain. I dont know why French people think it makes you the top dog if you were born there. So Elder Lerminez: He is a 20 year old "Spaniardian" (for Dusty) and he was in the military before his mission. He was in Israel. How cool is that? He told me not to ask about it though. He has the most Greeny fire I've ever seen until he sees people then he gets really nervous hahaha its awesome.

Check out the snow level on the window!

So this week was very extraordinary. Currently there is a blizzard outside and yesterday was a blizzard, and the rest of the week it was 8 degrees (celcius). SO insanely warm and we thought oh man, summer time, birds chirping etc. but it was some crazy trick that turned into a two day blizzard. We have some crazy pictures. The snow drifts literally covered 2/3 of every door and in some parts the whole door. To get into the church, we had to do some digging/swimming. It's quite amazing.

Last week, Elder Snickers and I were visiting potentials from a year ago that were never contacted and we met, Matthew and Megan. They have 3 kids, 3, 5 and 7. They are awesome as well and they came to our ward activity on Saturday night and had a blast. Megan was embarrassed by her kids because they were popping balloons but they planned on coming to church until everyone got snowed inside.. so church got cancelled. I don't want to tell you anymore about them, because I don't want them to get jinxed, lets just say we love them and they are great people:)

This week I had a really strong spiritual experience while interviewing one of the elders in the area. This elder just got out on his mission and he has lived an insane life.. he is 25. He served in the military for 6 years (18 months in Iraq).  He also did some sort of MP stuff in Russia and has some crazy stories. He is a convert of less than 2 years and now he is a missionary. I was talking to him about how he is doing and he was struggling a bit but after a while he thanked me and said how he asked for help in his prayer and then I told him exactly what he needed to hear. It really is amazing when the Lord uses us to do his work. I Love you all like crazy! The mission is the greatest and for anyone in here who isn't on one. It's not too late, it will change your life!

1 Nephi 17:3

"And thus we see that the commandments of god must be fulfilled. and if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did provide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness."

Mission Work in Moncton

Salut mes chums,
(Rue Argyle in Moncton)

This week was a good one. We are still hunting for investigators, but Saturday we were able to find one. He is a 64 year old Catholic. We met with him after calling him (he was a former investigator) and we had hands down the best first lesson in the history of first lessons. He asked us to keep coming back, included by saying everyday, and he read the testimonies, introduction 4 times in one day. We will be meeting with him today at 7:00 and we are stoked.
We have been working a lot, (since we got to Dieppe) with the members especially the less active or part member families, and one in particular is from the Congo. They started coming back to church and their son will be getting baptized soon:) they will be meeting with the bishop to talk about when. FYI he is not a convert, he is 8.5 years old, but he will bring his family with him into activity:)
We have really realized how big a role the members play in the progression of missionary work. Missionaries cannot work effectively without them and we have witnessed it. The members here in Moncton are fantastic. They have a huge desire to help others either come unto Christ for the first time, or help them return. When the members are doing their missionary work, which is being an example, and inviting people to learn more, the work hastens.
Not too much to say this week other than that:) oh and we accidentally broke and fixed a snowblower... we got snowed on again. We have the record for most snow in Moncton history since 1930! Love ya!
Elder Collett (Kaysville, leaves in two weeks),
Elder Hardesty (California)
Elder snickers (Belgium)
Love you all:)
