Swag and The Mitt Trick

Swag...Is this word still funny for anyone else? Or is it not trendy these days...?

Last week was sweet. It was misty and rainy most of the time but at least it's not freezing:) we are forecasted to have a day this week in the 20's and we are all looking forward to it:)
Some fun changes that happened last week... Elder Hart from Sandy Utah will be joining us in a trio :) he is a cool kid, he has been out for about 18 months or so.. We went and picked him up last week from his other area and we are all pretty excited to work together for the rest of this transfer. This is good news for Dennis!

We had a lot of sweet miracles happen last week... The other Halifax elders had a baptism which puts Halifax at 5 this year. We are all pretty stoked about how well the work is moving forward:) we had like 3 lessons in a row that the only way we could describe them was "battling to get the spirit" .. It was like we were just fighting and doing all we could to get people just to recognize that what we were teaching was true. It was awesome during the lesson when the switch came though... One guy went from " I don't believe in God" to helping us talk about who he is and made the comment that God wants us to do our best.. Another said, "ok now I believe in God after what you said." And another at the end of the lesson said, "thanks for coming by, we talked about some really important things today. I'll be ready for next time" it's amazing when you know the spirit is there teaching.

Fun news... I got my mitt! President Pratt gave it to the sisters to play a trick on me.. (Thanks dad) they wrapped it in a ton of duck tape and newspaper and were acting nervous as I opened it so I was a bit scared that it would jump out at me.. Turns out was my glove. It took about a week for them to give it to me though.. So elder Zach Hansen and I are going to play some ball today... If it stops raining for a moment

Another super cool thing.. Johnathan went to the temple and did baptisms for his mom and his grandpa.. He left saying how awesome it was and how good he felt... He went to his aunts as well and she asked him, "are you going to be a missionary?" And hew as shocked because he hadn't talked about it with anyone yet. He told us he wants to go on a mission though! By the time he would leave he would be about 22.. Cool stuff:) he had a cool experience at church too.. He was praying how he could get more involved in the church and during the 3rd hour he got asked you be a talk in a few weeks.. He is super excited and took it as his answer to his prayers! Solid kid. You can add him on Facebook, his name is jay Car :)

Elder Renlund will be visiting this week... :0
And here is my thoughts I had at church yesterday..

Yesterday morning as I was fasting and thinking about the sacrament and how hungry I was I thought, "I am so excited to get the tiny piece of bread and tiny cup of water. It will be just enough to help me withstand my hunger and thirst until next sacrament meeting and that will give me enough to get me to dinner."

I think that is so close to where I need to be. I need to have the same hunger and thirst for the sacrament, but it needs to be because that tiny piece of bread and little cup of water will give me the strength I need to overcome weaknesses and become more Christ-like. I should look forward to it each week to satisfy my spiritual hungering and thirsting, not my physical.

Je vous aime tous,

This is from last week...

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22 (months)!

Hi!

Today is the first time in about 3 weeks that we have a fairly normal pday! So I'll be able to send you an actual goodish email hahaha..

Last week was miracle madness. We started it off with all the zone conferences, traveling with elder Bennett was amazing. We talked to him a lot about his experiences that he has had in Russia and all over the world.. I'm so grateful to be in Canada! Sorry Drew I'll keep you in my prayers while you preach to the Russians... One thing I felt last week from the trainings was a greater sense of urgency. I felt like I needed to go out and talk to people instead of having to because I'm a missionary. (Sometimes missionaries go through the motions, but I felt a desire to go out and do it) it was like being a green y'all over again.
Immediately after Wednesday's conference we went out finding and had a really cool contact. We ended up walking with this family back to their apartment, answering questions and talking about the plan of salvation. It was neat as well because one of them was from nearby to Bathurst which is one of my first areas. The family was pretty bad, they had a daughter going in for surgery the next morning and they were worried about it, it was awesome to be able to help them feel comforted from the message we shared

Here is the super fun news. Johnathan got baptized! He also received the aaronic priesthood and will be going to the temple this Friday! He is such an amazing example. He went from bad habits and no God to dropping everything and learning the gospel. He has had some super cool experiences that have made him strong as a member of only a few days. President Pratt wants him to prepare for a mission, so we are going to see if it's something he would consider in the future... He really gets it though, after his baptism he said, a few more things like this and then temple marriage! We got so stoked hahah. We have many pics for you don't worry!

Other fun stuff,Tuesday night it snowed, Saturday it was 30 degrees.. Hahaha what the deuce?

This week the only event going on other than missionary work is mission leadership council.. So it will be our first normal week in almost a month:) today is my 22 month mark, which is also weird and cool.

I love you all:) thanks for the emails!
