LOBSTER ATTACK!

Elder Argyle searching for investigators with new comp
This week was tough mentally.. it's still cold, it snowed once and rained 3 days. Looking forward to summer haha

This week we were able to teach quite a bit. The elect really do exist, but they are so difficult to find - goodness gracious. Unfortunately one of the people we were blessed to meet will be passed over to the other missionaries because he isn't French and he is in Moncton, while Elder Lerminez and I are in the neighboring French city of Dieppe.

We were able to teach one middle aged father who, while he was in college in a city called Edmunston (Borders Quebec) met missionaries and they helped him make it through college. Which is a miracle alone because that was the reason he was open to talking with us. This man, already believes in the Apostasy and really had a sincere desire to learn more. He accepted a baptismal invite, but is not on date. We also started teaching an RLDS family.. which is probably the first strangest thing in the world. For those of you who don't know, this is the group that broke away from the early church to follow the Smith Lineage. This family has been going to the Anglican church, because there is no church for them here being the only members. We aren't 100% sure about them. It's a confusing thing when they have the same beliefs almost.

We had a really really weird/cool miracle happen just two days ago as well. We were knocking doors and it didn't feel right at all so we stopped and walked back to the car to figure out what we needed to do. On the way there, this runner stopped and quadruple took turned around and ran back to us. He is from French Guiana, in South America. He met missionaries last year outside the University and he was absolutely shocked/stoked to see us. We were able to get some information so we could contact him soon after school ends. It was so weird being approached by someone without initiating it first though man oh man did I feel funny.

We also met another Baptist minister.. He said he is waiting for Christ to restore his church, but when we asked him to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if that has already happened, he refused! -_-

We spent a day in an area about 15 minutes away called Shediac, its a smallish city and it has the worlds biggest lobster. That's what all our pictures are for the week..

S/O to drew in the MTC
S/O to Brookie who is getting married

P.S. met another Airedale terrier named chester, he was nuts.

Love you all,

Elder Argyle

"jai feelĂ© le spirit, c'etais pretty sweet"‏

That is a phrase I heard from a member this week... A good example of Chiak.

We got our transfer letters yesterday, and I will be staying in Dieppe which will be great:) We have big things coming these next few weeks:):)
This week we spent almost all of our time finding less active members who disappeared or searching for the chosen ones. Unfortunately, we did not have any opportunities to really sit down and have a lesson with anyone, but we were able to set up a couple of appointments for this week which will be great.:)

Last week we really focused every approach with everyone completely on the Book of Mormon, because in our past approaches we would talk about the plan of salvation, modern prophets and revelation or really individual principles that we thought were the most interesting based off of the individual. We were not finding a lot of success in doing that, so we changed our tactics and went straight into the "Holy hand grenade" as some missionaries call it because its too difficult to write out Book of Mormon, so they write BoM. It was very interesting the change in each person we talked to. Some instantly reacted offended or scared and would end it at that. But more often than not people got sincerely interested in what this book was. In Preach My Gospel it says, "The Book of Mormon combined with the spirit is the most effective tool for conversion" and that statement is 1189% true! We were able to get a lot of return appointments at doors or on the street thanks to it!

Funny/cool experiences this week. We were walking on a trail, that turned into a 5k race and people were running next to us (we didn't run). We met a lot of people through that by accident haha.. While we were trying to visit potentials and former investigators, Elder Lerminez saw a dog and was like "hey its your dog!" Sure enough, it was Jango <3. We parked the truck and talked to the two people there and I took a picture with him. His name is Chester.

Love you all like crazy! Its finally getting warmer! Almost all the snow has melted and there are icebergs in the rivers. It's super cool! Also.. found a Honda civic covered with mirrors and flames!!! #speed

Time is Flying By! I can see GRASS

This week went quick! Man oh man. That's the weirdest part about the mission life - is the days literally last an hour. So, last week I went on exchanges to a little English area called Amherst. It was very weird speaking English and to be completely honest, I'm not nearly as comfortable hahaha. It was fun though we got yelled at a lot and we also taught a LA family, and a couple of recent converts. (Amherst had 3 baptisms the week prior)

Back in Dieppe, the work is moving. It's progressing slowly but once it gets full throttle it'll be amazing. Our investigator family, is not progressing at all.. unfortunately. We are hopeful that we can help them understand the importance of certain laws and hopefully we can get them to church this week. We started teaching another younger family who we will be going back to teach on Wednesday which will be amazing. I won't say anymore about them because it seems like everytime I do, I jinx them and I'm very superstitious. So it'll end there.

There were a lot of miracles this week, one of them being how we came across the new family. It started of pretty rocky. We planned on visiting some really good potentials, investigators all of which falling through, then the back-up plan fell through. We were left with prayer, which should have been our first resource not last, (repentance) so we stopped the car, said a prayer on what to do and both Elder Lerminez and I felt we needed to go to a specific area. We got there and came across them:) It was a faith building experience, which happens like 29 times a day as a missionary and we are very hopeful:)
Look, there's GRASS!

ALSO it only snowed once last week, and today its 14 degrees :) MMMM toasty. Spring is on its way! The snow is melting super fast and there is flooding everywhere. We saw some grass this week as well:)

some grass outside of the church
and a huge sucker that a member gave me for easter <3

The Cat's Out Of the Bag...

This week was amazing, we were able to go over and teach an investigator a few times this week, and in one of the times, his cat (tinkerbell) decided to jump into my bag. It was all cute and adorable until he managed to destroy a couple brochures and a Book of Mormon. He went to the bathroom in my bag haha... So that's your funny missionary story of the week.

This week we all had the amazing chance to listen to a living prophet, Thomas S Monson, and the 12 apostles. We had a saying the other day going around the mission, "Good is the enemy of Excellent" There was a very similar quote given during the conference. Being average, or just going through the motions will get you to the same place that all the average people are. Average missionaries do average missionary things and get average blessings. Average sunday school teachers do average sunday school teacher things and get average blessings. Average students get average grades. The saying "you reap what you sow" is not just a saying, it's doctrine. Work your butt off now so that you can reap the blessings!

I'm super excited as well for summer. Obviously because of the never ending snow, but I have been told there is a new Davis High French Missionary on his way in July! This makes me especially excited.

Just like in the movie UP when the small chubby kid says "adventure is out there" so is satan. Temptation is out there! Don't get caught.. It is said that we need to walk uprightly... The answer of how to do that is in the scriptures.

Proverbs 16.17 - "The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul"

My comp
Happy easter everyone! I miss you guys all like crazy, but I need to be on a mission! It is the most amazing experience. I have changed a lot, but I don't think I'm weird yet. I hope you all listened to Elder Hollands talk, if you were asleep, please go look it up. I thought about you guys the whole time. I was a little annoyed with how many people talked about marriage though. Good thing we have two love birds who will be in a month or so:) I hope all is going well:) love you all, my comp is trying to justify responding to his gf's email but while he has his back turned I'll dear john her for him to save some time;)
 love you

love you all,
