General Conference Week from the North

Well, this week has been one for the books. I'm not sure what book but it was definitely an interesting one. OK. This week we spent most of our time working with members and less actives. One of the less actives we have been meeting with is the most jacked man I have seen and ever will see in my life. He looks like the actor from the movies, The pacifier and Fast and Furious. You know the bald guy - I forgot his name. Alright so anyways, he is huge, bald, and super cool. He is currently waiting for clearance to be a Paramedic and Fire fighter because he blew out his knee and shoulder a while back doing police training. He wasn't able to come to conference at the church this week because he was sick, but he has said he wants to come back to church. Our other less active that we taught a few times this week is also incredible. He hasn't been to church for I'm not even sure how long, but he came again the first few days I was here AND he came to General Conference at the church:) He is struggling with poverty right now and he lives all alone.. His family is all Jehovah Witnesses and he told us a story that happened recently. Before he started talking to us and coming to church again, his brother would tell him about his view of other churches and his brother doesn't know that he has started to come back to church again. His brother recently started asking questions about our beliefs. Because he came back to church less then two weeks ago, he was able to answer his brother's questions, which he hasn't been able to do ever in his life. He is starting to do Missionary work!!!!

Something funny happened this week as well. After spending the entire day in Moncton, an area that is closed now for zone training. We came back to Bathurst and got some Mcdonalds:) It was amazing. I love Mcdonalds. It is so much better than my cooking.  So anyways we were there and a group of girls in maybe low 20's, late teens kind of stalked us while we were there. We then left to do some knocking and we ran into them again. They followed us. hahaha.

My scripture of the week is Heleman 5
Nephi and Lehi, the sons of Heleman are imprisoned and are about to be killed, but in (verse 23) Encircled about as if by fire, the guards feared that they would be burned if they touched them. Then all this crazy stuff starts happening like walls started shaking because of the power they had.
28) And it came to pass that they were overshadowed with a cloud of darkness, and an awful solemn fear came upon them.
29)And it came to pass that there came a voice as if it were above the cloud of darkness, saying: Repent ye, repent ye, and seek no more to destroy my servants whom I have sent unto you to declare good tidings.
30) And it came to pass when they heard this voice, and beheld that it was not a voice of thunder, neither was it a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but behold it was a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper, and it did pierce even to the very soul-
Verse 30 shocked me when I read this. The scriptures teach that God is the same now as he was in the past and he will be the same forever, but for some reason I always thought that when God spoke to people in the Nephite times that it was not by the spirit. Verse 30 describes the Holy Ghost, who spoke to these guards who were about to try to kill Nephi and Lehi. Heavenly Father uses the same ways to communicate with us now, as he did before. Don't ignore the feelings or thoughts you get from the spirit. It's God trying to tell you something.

Love ya'll bunches, passez un bonne semain! Mangez vos l'egumes!
